Understanding mid-face volume loss

The mid-face is the first area to deflate with age, and because it supports everything below, losing it flattens the face and deepens the folds and shadows around it. Restoring it is often the single most refreshing treatment, done within our cheek filler treatments.

What causes mid-face volume loss

The fat pads of the mid-face shrink and descend with age, and the underlying bone resorbs, so the cheeks lose their fullness and support. Weight loss accelerates it dramatically. The result is a flatter, more tired and older-looking face.

Who tends to notice it

It usually begins in the late thirties and forties, and can appear suddenly after significant weight loss. People often notice their face looks gaunt or tired, and that other areas like the folds and under-eyes have worsened as a result.

Cheek and mid-face filler

Restoring volume to the cheeks refreshes the whole mid-face and improves the folds and shadows that volume loss causes.
