Clinical facial or salon facial?

Both can be good. The difference is who is looking at your skin, what they are trained to notice and what can happen next.

The same hour, a different conversation

A good salon facial and a clinical facial can feel very similar while you are on the couch. The difference sits in the assessment beforehand and the options afterwards. This page explains that honestly, without pretending salon facials are somehow bad, and covers where our facials in Southport fit.

Which Treatment Is Right For You?

A facial given in a clinic that also treats skin with injectables, so your skin is assessed first and the facial is chosen as part of a wider plan rather than in isolation.
Every four to six weeks, or fitted around your other treatments

This is suitable for those looking for:

Skin with a specific concern, or anyone already having injectable treatments
A facial given in a beauty salon or spa, usually built around cleansing, exfoliation, massage and relaxation, often by therapists who are very good at what they do.
Every four to six weeks as maintenance

This is suitable looking for:

Relaxation, comfort and regular maintenance

What actually differs

It is not the products, and it is certainly not the skill of the therapist. Plenty of salon facials are excellent, and the massage and the quiet hour are worth having in their own right. The difference is assessment and what happens next. In a clinic that also injects, your skin is looked at with the full range of treatment in mind, so if your concern is never going to respond to a facial, someone can tell you that and explain what would.

Which is right for you

If you want an hour that leaves you relaxed and your skin comfortable, a salon facial does that well and we would not talk you out of it. If you have a concern you have been trying to shift, such as pigmentation, texture, congestion or early lines, or you already have injectable treatments and the timing needs to work around them, a clinical facial is more useful because the assessment comes first. Book a consultation and we will tell you if a facial is not the answer.

Can you have both?

Yes, and plenty of people do. A salon facial for regular upkeep and a clinical one when something needs assessing works perfectly well together. The only thing to watch is timing around injectables, which we cover on facials and injectables.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Not automatically. A salon facial can be excellent at what it sets out to do. A clinical facial is more useful when you have a specific concern, because the skin is assessed first and there are other options if a facial will not fix it.
It is a marketing phrase rather than a protected term. It usually means stronger active ingredients or a clinic setting. Ask what is actually being used and why, wherever you go.
For comfort, maintenance and how your skin looks in the short term, many people find they are. For structural change such as scarring or deep lines, a facial alone will not do it, and we would say so.
We look at your skin before your first facial so we choose the right one for it. It is short, and it is not a sales meeting. You are free to leave without booking anything.
Usually yes, with the timing spaced sensibly. We leave a gap after anti-wrinkle injections and filler before working on the skin, and we will tell you exactly what that gap is.

Every facial at The Skin and Aesthetics House starts with a proper look at your skin, so we choose the treatment that fits rather than the one on the poster. If we think a facial is not the answer, we will say so. We treat only over-18s.
